Temporary works – Occident & Pinchen Streets, Nulkaba
The imminent opening of the Occident Street access to the Cessnock Correctional Centre requires Council to implement road closures and intersection controls for works:
- The closure of Occident Street using barriers and signage, immediately north of the Kerlew Street Intersection; and
- The closure of Pinchen Street using barriers and signage, immediately north of the Kerlew Street Intersection.

Shared Pathway - East Esplanade, Weston
Project Overview
Cessnock City Council will be undertaking construction works for a new shared footpath linking Station Street to Fourth Street on East Esplanade, Weston. The project is starting construction in March 2025 and expected to take approximately three months to complete.

The new shared footpath will provide a safe and accessible connection between Weston CBD, surrounding residences, and Weston Public School, making it easier for students, families, and the community to travel, improving pedestrian and cyclist access in the area.
How will residents be impacted during construction?
During construction, residents and road users may experience:
- Restricted access for pedestrians and cyclists along East Esplanade
- Traffic management in place for safety, which may cause minor delays on Station Street and Fourth Street
- Material stockpiles in the area related to the works
