Council regularly undertakes minor works across the Cessnock Local Government Area. Please see below for current and upcoming minor works.
McGrane Street and Mount View Road, Cessnock – Pedestrian Refuge
Cessnock City Council will be carrying out Road Safety Improvements including installation of a pedestrian refuge, associated signage and line marking on the corner of McGrane Street and Mount View Road.
Night works will be carried out to minimise daily traffic disruptions and affected residents will be notified prior to works commencing. Works are due to commence on Sunday 16 February 2025 from 5.00pm.
During the works, the road will be under traffic control and detours will be in place for traffic to ensure the work zone is safe and may affect some travel times. Please keep to the speed limits and follow the directions of traffic controllers/signs.

Temporary works – Occident & Pinchen Streets, Nulkaba
The imminent opening of the Occident Street access to the Cessnock Correctional Centre requires Council to implement road closures and intersection controls for works:
- The closure of Occident Street using barriers and signage, immediately north of the Kerlew Street Intersection; and
- The closure of Pinchen Street using barriers and signage, immediately north of the Kerlew Street Intersection.

Heavy patching - Majors Lane, Keinbah
Contractors working on behalf of Council will be carrying out heavy patching works in Majors Lane, Keinbah, between Lovedale Road and Old Maitland Road.
The works are scheduled for Wednesday 15/01/2025 – 7:00am to 6:00pm (weather permitting).
During works, the road will be under traffic control to ensure the work zone is safe and may affect travel times. Please keep to the speed limits and follow the direction of traffic controllers/signs.
Motor vehicle access to and from your property during the works may be restricted at times, however Council will endeavour to minimise disruptions.
