Public swimming pools

Our pools

We have three public pools in the Cessnock LGA. Please see below for more information about each facility.

Please note: Council's outdoor seasonal pools at Branxton and Cessnock are generally open from the end of September until the end of March (click on the relevant pool below to view specific opening hours). The Kurri Kurri Aquatic and Fitness Centre is open daily year-round.

Branxton Pool

First Two Weeks: Weekends 7.00am to 5.00pm; Weekdays 6.00am – 5.00pm
WEEKDAYS: 6.00am – 6.00pm.
WEEKENDS: 7.00am – 6.00pm
PUBLIC HOLIDAYS: 7.00am – 6.00pm.
CLOSED: Christmas Day and Council Picnic Day (Friday 31 October 2025).

Facilities:

  • Outdoor seasonal 33 metre pool with six lanes and ramp access
  • Covered toddler pool with step entry and water play features 
  • Change rooms including accessible change room and toilet
  • Kiosk facilities 
  • Small grandstand
  • Picnic shelters and seating
  • Grassed areas for picnics

Branxton Pool is also home to Branxton Greta Amateur Swim Club who offer a range of programs and competitions. For information on the club, visit their Facebook page

Cessnock Pool

  • Splash pad with tipping bucket, slide, spray hoops, deck jets and mushroom fountain (operates daily from 10am - 5pm)
  • Six lane, 50 metre outdoor pool with ramp access
  • Covered toddler pool with step entry, water play features and covered baby pool
  • Change rooms including accessible change room and toilet
  • Kiosk facilities
  • Grandstand
  • Picnic shelters and seating
  • Grassed areas for picnics

Kurri Kurri Aquatic and Fitness Centre is Cessnock City Council’s year round aquatic facility and is managed by a qualified facility management organisation.

Facilities: 

  • Gymnasium
  • Eight lane, 25 metre pool
  • 10 metre program pool
  • Leisure pool with a beach entry

School carnival and fun day schedule

The school carnival schedule will be confirmed in October 2025. Please note the pools will be closed during the listed times to host the booked carnivals.

Swimming pool passes

Singles, couples and families can apply for an admission pass to use Council's public pools during the upcoming 2025/26 season here.


Facility hire

Schools and community groups that wish to use a Council swimming pool for events and carnivals, must fill out the Application for use of Public Aquatic Facilities form , as well as read the Aquatic Facilities Hirer Agreement.
