Background

Campbell Street, Ellalong is a street that connects Helena Street and Sandy Creek Road via South Street. The street provides access to properties along Campbell Street, however may be subject to additional traffic from South Street. Over time, despite maintenance, the section of Campbell Street between Helena Street and Hecla Street has deteriorated considerably - triggering priority rehabilitation of the road. Council has received complaints from the local community about the road safety issues and improvement of road. The work was therefore included in Cessnock City Council Operational Plan 2024-25 under Local Road Renewal Program (RRL).

The existing road is a sealed, generally with unformed/unsealed shoulders and earth drains on each side. Council proposes to widen the existing road and improve the drainage system along the road.
