Cessnock City and Kurri Kurri Libraries are excited to announce a series of over 40 free technology workshops designed for seniors to enhance their digital skills.

Running from August 2024 to June 2025, these workshops are made possible through a generous grant from the State Library of NSW and Telstra.

Led by expert facilitator Harry Kavadas from Seniors, Tech and Tea, participants will gain hands-on experience with their smartphones, computers, and tablets, learning how to navigate and utilise technology with confidence.

The workshops will cover topics like getting the most out of your smartphone, introduction to video calling, smart assistants, laptops, staying safe online and managing your digital assets for end of life.

The first three workshops in this series include:

  • Apple iPhones & iPads: Friday 16 August 2024, 10am-12pm at Kurri Kurri Library and 1.30-3.30pm at Cessnock Library
  • Introduction to social media: Friday 23 August 2024, 10am-12pm at Kurri Kurri Library and 1.30-3.30pm at Cessnock Library
  • Sharing Photos and Other Attachments: Friday 30 August 2024, 10am-12pm at Kurri Kurri Library

Cessnock City Council Acting Library Services Coordinator, Andrew Powell is encouraging local seniors to take advantage of these practical, hands-on workshops.

"These workshops are about teaching local seniors that technology isn’t terrifying and can be an incredibly useful tool when you have the skills to get the most out your device," said Mr Powell.

To view the full range of workshops, visit your local library to collect a flyer or head to the library’s Eventbrite page to check the full workshop menu and book online.
