Sydney writer Lauren K. McKellar will discuss and sign copies of her new book ‘The Calendar Mums’ when she visits Cessnock Library between 10.30am and 12pm on Saturday, 1 March, 2025.

‘The Calendar Mums’ tells a warm, funny, and heartbreaking story of a group of new mothers in Hickory Creek who band together to save their community centre from closure.

Faced with limited resources and a looming disaster, they embark on a daring fundraising plan: creating a nude calendar featuring themselves. As they bare all for the camera, they also begin to unravel their deepest secrets, forge new friendships, and rediscover their identities.

McKellar is a successful romance writer, having published 19 books in the genre before this latest release.

‘The Calendar Mums’ perfectly balances light and dark, exploring themes of identity, postpartum mental health, and the power of community. It serves as a reminder to mothers of their strength, capabilities, and the importance of self-care.

“We are delighted to welcome Lauren K. McKellar to Cessnock Library to discuss her compelling new novel,” said Rose-marie Walters, Library Services Co-ordinator.

“‘The Calendar Mums’ tackles important issues with humour and heart, and we believe it will resonate deeply with our community.”

McKellar will share insights about the creative process, inspiration behind her characters, and discuss the importance of stories that uplift and empower women during the engaging talk and Q&A session. Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
