Annual Christmas Appeal

 

Help make someone’s Christmas merry and bright this year by donating a gift or food to those in need as part of Cessnock City Council’s Annual Christmas Appeal.

Members of the community can drop off donations of new and unwrapped toys or non-perishable food to Council’s Administration Building at Cessnock and leave items under the Christmas tree in the customer service area (near the Vincent Street entrance). Items will be collected until Monday 8 December.

Each year, Council partners with several local not-for-profits to deliver this appeal. This year we are working with:

• Carrie’s Place
• Kiray Putjung Aboriginal Corporation
• Rotary Club of Cessnock
• Samaritans Information and Neighbourhood Centre Cessnock.

Join the 2025 Business Christmas Window Display Competition!

 

Light up Cessnock this Christmas and celebrate local business.

This festive initiative celebrates creativity, encourages local shopping, and brings our community together. Decorate your shopfront with lights, trees, and joyful themes – let’s make Cessnock sparkle!

Prizes

• 1st: $500 gift card + trophy
• 2nd: $300 gift card + trophy
• 3rd: $200 gift card + trophy
• Mayor’s Choice: $100 gift card + trophy

Key Dates

• Nominations: 17–30 November
• Community Voting: 1–15 December
• Mayor’s Choice Judging: 8–12 December
• Winners Announced: 18 December

How to Enter

• Nominate via the Together Cessnock entry page
• Provide business name, address, contact email, and photo of your display
• High-quality photos recommended
