Published on 03 July 2024
Cessnock City Council is calling on residents to nominate a deserving local for the City of Cessnock Hall of Fame. Nominations are open now, from July through to 9 September 2024.
The City of Cessnock Hall of Fame celebrates individuals and families who have attained significant achievements and prominence in their chosen field, and have a strong association with the Cessnock Local Government Area.
The Hall of Fame has six categories of recognition including Arts, Sport, Public Service, Science, Business, and Meritorious Families.
Previous inductees to the City of Cessnock Hall of Fame include Elly Pickles, renowned for her successful national water polo career, and the late Uncle Les Elvin, honoured for his distinguished efforts towards education and art for Cessnock City’s Aboriginal community.
Cessnock City Council Mayor Jay Suvaal emphasised the importance of recognising local excellence.
"The Hall of Fame is a testament to the talent and dedication found within our community," Clr Suvaal said.
"It’s an opportunity to celebrate those who have excelled in their fields within the Cessnock LGA. I encourage everyone to nominate someone they believe deserves this prestigious recognition.
"Those who are inducted in the Hall of Fame are recognised on the ‘Wall of Fame’ at the Performance Arts Culture Cessnock, and on commemorative plaques across the LGA."
Following the nomination period, a City of Cessnock Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place in the first half 2025. Dates to be released soon.
The nomination form, along with guidelines of entry, can be found on our Hall of Fame webpage here.
