Published on 15 November 2024
Cessnock residents eager to improve their gardening skills or create more sustainable, edible spaces are invited to join a hands-on Permaculture Design Workshop on Saturday, 7 December, from 8.00-11.00am at the Cessnock Community Garden (behind Beyond Church, Charlton Street).
The workshop, will be led by expert permaculture designers who will share valuable insights on creating vibrant, resilient gardens that require less work and fewer resources.
The Community Garden will also be hosting an Open Day from 8.00am-1.00pm featuring a coffee cart, activities for children, including face painting, balloon making, and rock painting and a chance to explore the garden and see its sustainable gardening practices in action.
Cessnock City Mayor Daniel Watton expressed his enthusiasm for both the workshop and the open day.
"We’re excited to offer this wonderful opportunity to Cessnock residents, whether you're interested in learning new gardening techniques or simply want to enjoy a day in the garden," said Clr Watton.
"The workshop will provide hands-on, practical advice, while the open day is a chance for everyone to relax, explore, and enjoy some fun activities with family and friends."
There will also be a swap stall to encourage people to bring along a variety of garden products, such as seeds and plants, to swap with others.
The workshop is free for members of the Cessnock Community Garden Association and all students, and costs $5 for other community members. For more information or to register, visit the event page here.
