Kurri Kurri to Testers Hollow – Shared Pathway

  • Project typeShared Pathway
  • Project value$1,775,000
  • Project scheduleFebruary 2026 – July 2026

Background

LGA & Regional planning studies show that Cessnock LGA is growing rapidly with population set to increase by more than 49% over the next 20 years.  The Maitland LGA is experiencing similar levels of growth.  This growth places exponential demand on roads and transport infrastructure and highlights the need for improved walking and cycling infrastructure to provide connectivity from residential centres to public transport facilities and recreational spaces.  The proposed shared path would service the needs of these two neighbouring burgeoning cities with the intent being that the pathway would connect to future infrastructure from Gillieston Heights, to be constructed by others.
