  • Project value$1.4 million
  • Project schedule12-16 weeks from commencement

Background

Branxton continues to thrive as a vibrant village and a key heritage destination in the Hunter Valley. Since the opening of the Hunter Expressway in 2014 and the ongoing staged development of Huntlee’s New Town, the Branxton Subregion has experienced significant growth and transformation.

Cessnock City Council has secured funding from Regional NSW to deliver another stage of the upgrade to the Branxton Town Centre, spanning from Church Street/Paterson Lane to Anvil Creek Bridge. This revitalisation project is designed to enhance the village character of the area by narrowing the former highway corridor, improving the pedestrian experience, optimising parking, and introducing landscaping to create a more welcoming and attractive environment.

Scope of Works

The project has commenced investigation and design, and construction works are to commence in the coming months, this includes the following:

  • New footpaths
  • Rationalised parking arrangements
  • Upgraded drainage
  • Installation of a pedestrian crossing and raised platforms
  • Tree planting and landscaping enhancements

These improvements will help create a safer, greener, and more connected space for residents, businesses, and visitors to enjoy.
