Background

Sandy Creek Road received $2.37 million under Round 4 of Fixing Local Roads, which added to the $1.62 million received under Round 2 of the program. Council also contributed approx. $1.13 million and are able to complete the 2.7km stretch of the road from Heaton Road to Quorrobolong Road.

Council has committed to progressively upgrade this route, which has resulted in improved road environment and has also seen increased usage. All remaining timber bridges have been upgraded and replaced with concrete structures, removing previous load limits. Council is seeking to achieve B-Double HML access along the route from Mount Vincent to Millfield via Sandy Creek Road.

Scope of works

The rehabilitation of 2.7km section of Sandy Creek Road includes- 

  • Shoulder widening
  • Tree removal
  • Road side drainage improvements
  • Rehabilitation of major culverts
  • Pavement upgrades and resurfacing
  • Increased safety improvements (guardrail)
  • Line marking and delineation
