Scope of Works

Cessnock City Council undertook a $4 million rehabilitation of Mount View Road, between Links Avenue and Barrett Avenue. The project was made possible through funding from the Transport for NSW Fixing Local Roads Program and Hunter Water. Due to the rapid deterioration of the road and the aging water main within the pavement, both required urgent upgrades. The project not only improved road quality but also upgraded and relocated the water main to prevent future failures.

The works were completed by local contractor Woodbury Civil, who collaborated with Council over 12 months to develop a detailed plan for the project.

The project included:

  • Water main renewal and relocation
  • Full pavement rehabilitation
  • Drainage system improvements
  • Replacement of some kerb and gutter sections
  • Installation of a shared footpath
  • New signage and line marking

Project Phases

To reduce disruptions to residents and road users, the works were staged across two phases:

  • Phase 1: Water Main Works
Scheduled from June 2023 to September 2023, this phase focused on replacing the water main, including some drainage works.
  • Phase 2: Pavement Works
Commencing in August 2023 and completing by May 2024, this phase involved the full rehabilitation of the road and associated infrastructure upgrades.
