Newcastle Permanent Carols in the Park announced for 2025
Published on 14 November 2025
Shake-off the picnic blanket and get your best singing voices ready, because Newcastle Permanent Carols in the Park is set to be anything but a silent night at Cessnock Sportsground on Friday 5 December!
Gates open for the much-loved annual event at 5.30pm, with carols starting at 7pm, and the evening culminating in a fireworks spectacular at 9pm.
Country music star and local resident Tara Naysmith will host the free show, which will feature a 14-piece band of Hunter musicians who will bring to life more than 30 festive favourites – both traditional and modern – under the expert guidance of veteran carols conductor Greg Paterson.
Naysmith and six talented vocalists will feature on stage throughout the night, including Tim Davies, Rachel Keating, Rebecca McLennan, Alicia Paterson, Sarah Ross, and Marty Worrall.
People are welcome to bring their own food and drink – though this is strictly an alcohol-free event – or buy some treats from one of the several food trucks that will be open.
Cessnock City Mayor Dan Watton said Newcastle Permanent Carols in the Park was the perfect way for the community to get into the festive spirit for 2025.
"It will be a fantastic evening of entertainment and I encourage the community to take the opportunity to connect with family, friends, colleagues, and neighbours while enjoying a sing-along to some Christmas classics," said Clr Watton.
"You won’t want to miss this year’s carols event – it’s the perfect way to come together and reflect on the year that’s been. And though he’s very busy this time of year, there are rumours jolly old Saint Nick himself might stop by!"
Newcastle Permanent Carols in the Park is proudly presented by Newcastle Permanent Building Society, Cessnock City Council, Aerologistics, and Hunter Events Group.
