Help make someone’s Christmas merry and bright this year by donating a gift or food to those in need in our community, as part of Cessnock City Council’s annual Christmas Appeal.

From Monday 3 November until Monday 8 December 2025, members of the community can drop off donations of new unwrapped toys or non-perishable food to Council’s Administration Building at Cessnock and leave items under the Christmas tree in the customer service area (near the Vincent Street entrance).

Alternatively, donations can be taken straight to one of the four not-for-profit community organisations set to benefit from this year’s Christmas Appeal:

  • Carrie’s Place,
  • Kiray Putjung Aboriginal Corporation,
  • Rotary Club of Cessnock,
  • Samaritans Information and Neighbourhood Centre Cessnock.

Cessnock City Mayor Daniel Watton called on the community to get behind the appeal and donate, if able.

"Christmas is wonderful for many people, but for some it can be one of the most difficult times of year," said Clr Watton.

"I’m looking forward to seeing the community support this great initiative and help those doing it tough during the festive season, in the true spirit of Christmas – kindness, generosity, and friendship."

For health and safety reasons, Council can only accept brand new items that have not been wrapped.

Visit Council’s Administration Building at 62-78 Vincent Street, Cessnock to donate to the Christmas Appeal.
