Mayor Watton congratulates Clr Hill on election as Deputy Mayor

Cessnock City Council has a new Deputy Mayor following Wednesday night’s council meeting. Councillor Mitchell Hill was elected to the position following a vote of elected councillors. 

Clr Hill is an IT support worker at a local school and is currently serving his second term on Council representing Ward D.

Cessnock City Mayor Dan Watton congratulated Councillor Hill on their election to the leadership team.

"Mitchell is a passionate advocate for our community," said Clr Watton said.

"As Deputy Mayor he’ll be spreading that enthusiasm right across the LGA, and I look forward to working closely with him over the next 12 months."

Clr Hill said he is looking forward to working collaboratively with Mayor Watton and Council colleagues to deliver for the local community. 

"I’m grateful and excited for the opportunity to serve as Deputy Mayor of Cessnock, and look forward to working with the new council to deliver quality outcomes for our community," said Clr Hill. 

"Cessnock is a one of our state’s fastest growing Local Government Areas and there are many important services and infrastructure projects needed to keep up with our expanding community. I’m eager to get back to the job of making this happen in the chamber in the new term!"
